Apple TV 6, the sixth iteration of the Apple TV, was released on December 11, 2017 and has been out for quite some time now.
The update, which comes as a direct sequel to Apple TV 3, is aimed at developers and users who want to take advantage of new features like the hidden recording device (DTM) feature, which allows users to record audio with their devices without having to worry about any audio output issues.
Apple TV users who already own an Apple TV will need to wait until December 27 to get the new version of the app, which includes a slew of new video playback features, including new audio tracks, a new “Recordings” section that lets you view your recorded video without the need for a camera, and new “Audio” sections that let you record your audio in Apple Music and YouTube.
